Base Pages: The pages that attach to the album cover that the photograph is either slipped into or mounted to with the use of an adhesive mat.

Boxes: A delivery system used by Professional Photographers.  Geared to hold a single matted or mounted image.  Often used with tissue paper and stribbons.

Cameo Albums: An album that features an oval opening on the cover.

Digital Mounts: An easel back mount geared to hold either vertical or horizontal digital composite images.  This product is designed to enhance the overall appearance and increase the perceived value of the image.

Die: A studio name or event logo that is etched in metal.  A studio die can be used multiple times in the stamping of products without having to be remade.  Professional Photographers use custom dies to distinguish their products.

Easel Mounts: An open-faced product usually made of high quality black paper with an embossed decorative foil border of gold, silver or black.  These easel-back mounts can be displayed vertically or horizontally.   Used by Photographers to professionally present a single image.  These products fulfill the same purpose as portrait folders; increasing perceived value and enhancing the finished image.

Embossed Albums: An album that comes with a raised design on the front cover.  This design is most often a bouquet of flowers with the wording our wedding.  Some albums also have an embossed border on the cover.

Event Folder: A lower end delivery product used for event photography.  This slip-in device is easy to use and features a protective cover.  Usually made of white paper with printed graphics.  This style of folder is specifically designed for proms, cabarets, retirement parties, etc….

Flex-Hinge Cover: This style of album features a wraparound cover for a bound album appearance.  Multiple spine sizes accommodate variations in insert capacities, resulting in a truly fitted look with the flexibility to adapt the number of inserts included in a finished album.  The base page is held into the album cover by two parallel channels.

Flush Mount Album: An album where the photograph is adhered directly to the base page of the album and cannot be removed.  These albums typically come with a preset number of base pages that are stitched directly to the album spine.  Mats and borders are generally not used with this style of album.

Foil: A clear cellophane with pigment coloring used in the hot stamping process.  Normal stamp colors are gold, silver or black foil.  Also refers to the color of the border found on certain folders, easels, mounts and albums.

Folios: A packaging product used by photographers to give their images a finished look.  Folios are made from leather or simulated leather.  Come in three distinct styles: The Flush Mount Folios, The Slip-In Folios and the Custom-View Folio.

  • Customview Folios: Similar to the Slip-In folio except that the mat is not already adhered to the cover.  This style of folios allows more freedom when choosing sizes of photographs to be displayed. 
     

  • Flush Mount Folio: The photograph is adhered directly onto the folio cover and cannot be removed.  Usually available in two or three panels to hold 8x8 or 10x10 prints.
     

  • Slip-In Folio: The photographs are slipped into a matted padded cover.  Usually designed to hold four to twelve images.

Library Bound Album: A higher quality album where the base pages are stitched directly into the album spine.  These albums come with a preset number of base pages that are gilded with gold, silver or black.  The covers are available either plain or with a window opening.  The album cover can either be used with mats or have the photograph directly slipped in.

Mats: A decorative paper frame which enhances an image and allows for various sizes of photographs to be displayed in an album.  Adhered or slipped into base pages which are then attached to an album cover.

Memory Mates: A moderately priced delivery system used by photographers to professionally present their preschool, school, sports or dance-school images.  Memory mates will hold an individual 4x5 or 3 ½ x 5 and a group 7x5 photographs.  With the overall outside size being 8x10 these mounts are perfect for framing or they can stand alone using the pop-out easel back.  These products feature creative graphics and designs and compliment Sports Mounts / Folders.

Mount Board: Usually made from smooth SBS board with a peel-n-stick adhesive back.  This product is adhered to the back of a photograph making it ready for framing.  It protects the print from buckling and creasing.  Thickness is usually 50 point or 90 point.

Panel Mounts: A lower end delivery product used for sports or event photography.  It is a quick loading reversible mount that features a pop-out easel back.  Usually made of white paper with printed graphics and comes in a variety of sizes.

Photo Spray: A protective UV coating sprayed on photographic prints to protect from scratching, sunlight and other environmental hazards.  Eliminates bronzing on inkjet prints.  Changes the appearance of the photograph to a matte or a gloss finish.

Pin-Hinge Album: Describes an album cover which is connected to the base page by an interlocking pin-system.  The pin slides thru the album cover and base page locking the two together.  Base pages can be added or removed as necessary.

Portrait Folder: Delivery device that enhances your image protects your print and gives your photographs perceived value.  Usually made of high quality black paper with an embossed foil border of gold, silver or black. 

Presentation Products: Products that are used by Professional Photographers to increase the perceived value when delivering images to their clients.  A marketing tool to help increase future sales and present a finished look.

Preview Albums: An album that holds a limited number of images and is used for a variety of purposes.  Often made of simulated leather with a comb bound construction, these albums may be used for parent albums, to present senior proofs or family portraits.  Often does not require the purchase of base pages or mats.

Proof Books: A professional delivery system to showcase a large quantity of photographic images.  Usually comes with acetate slip-in pages and order forms which create an easy ordering system for your clientele.  Designed primarily for wedding photography.

Self-Stick Albums: See Flush Mount Albums

Slip-In Albums: A type of album in which the photograph is slipped directly into the album cover.  These albums require no additional mats to display photographs.

Sports Mounts / Folders: A delivery system designed to hold dual photographs for sports photography and typically hold a 5x7/7x5 image or a 5x7/10x8.  These mounts often feature colorful and exciting sports motifs.  These mounts often compliment matching Memory mates and used to increase sports package sales.

Stamping: The term used when a product will be imprinted with information.  This is sometimes referred to as ‘gold stamping’.  Please view our “Gold Stamping” page for more information

  • Bride & Groom Stamping: Often added to an album to personalize it with the Bride and Groom’s name and their wedding date.   This is sometimes referred to as ‘personalization’.
     

  • Event Stamping: This includes any type of event stamping.  It can sometimes involve a logo for the event or just wording. 
     

  • Stamping Location: This refers to the position on the product where information will be stamped. 
     

  • Studio Name Stamping: When a customer has their studio information imprinted on folders.  This may include: the studio name or logo; the city and state; and the phone number.
     

  • Title Stamping: This refers to the imprinting of a Title on an album.  These titles come in a standard size that cannot be altered.  There are a number of titles available to choose from.  To view these, please visit our “Gold Stamping” page.

Stretch Loops: See Stribbons

Stribbons: Elastic bands that are used as a finishing touch on boxes and presentation products.  Usually available in gold, silver or black.

Typeset: A one time setup used for imprinting of studio names; personalization or event stamping on products.  Used in the gold stamping process.  Foil colors are usually gold, silver or black.

Window Albums: An album that features a square opening on the cover.  This feature is often found on Library Bound Albums and Flex Hinge Albums.
